ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Seniors
Tom Maving and
Kellen Gambeski, along with juniors
Frank Leahy and
Chris DeHority, have been honored as members of the NECVA Western Division first-team.
Maving, of Tonawanda, N.Y. and a graduate of Canisius High School, ranks first on the team in kills with 305 (3.35 kills per game). Maving also ranks first as the Golden Flyers' all-time leader in kills as he has tallied 1,263 kills thus far in his career. Additionally, Maving is third on the team in digs with 146, and has added 33 blocks along with 10 service aces. Maving earned National Player of the Week honors for the seven-day period that ended January 27th, and was honored as a second-team all-American following the 2007 season.
Gambeski, of St. James, N.Y. and a graduate of Smithtown High School, ranks first on the team in blocks with 90, and is third on Nazareth's roster in kills with 238 (2.77 kills per game). Gambeski has also totaled 75 digs and 13 service aces.
Leahy, of Smithtown and a graduate of Smithtown High School, leads the Golden Flyers in assists with 1,072, and ranks first as Nazareth's all-time leader with 3,124 assists. Leahy has also tallied a team-high 24 service aces and ranks fourth on the team in blocks and digs with 52 and 128 respectively. Leahy earned National Player of the Week honors for the seven-day period that ended February 10th.
DeHority, of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Churchville-Chili, ranks first on Nazareth's volleyball team in digs with 242 (2.37 digs per game). DeHority is the Golden Flyers' all-time leader in digs as he has tallied a total of 760 in his collegiate career. DeHority has also added 81 kills and is third on the team in assists with 22.
The Golden Flyers, ranked sixth nationally, compete in the NECVA West Tournament March 28th and 29th.
